We are excited to announce that Kenneth Okwuonu will be our new Head Football Coach to lead our varsity team and oversee the development of our entire football program.
“Coach O” served 5 years as the running back coach for our varsity team, and for the past 14 years, he has been the head coach for our middle school program. His experience with both 11-man and 6-man football makes him a great choice for the current and future development of our football program. In addition to a strong knowledge of the game, Coach O possesses the strong organizational skills, attention to details, and comprehensive understanding of program development at both the middle and high school level required to lead a team and program.
While his football competency is important, his character and ability to grow young men into leaders is exactly what we want within our football program. I am really excited to watch Coach O lead these young men on Friday nights!
Coach O has been connected to football for most of his life. After a successful high school career as a running back at Dobie High School in Pasadena ISD, he was recruited to play football at Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri, where he played running back and earned his degree in electrical engineering. After a career working with robotics in the medical field, Coach O joined WCS in the 2008-2009 school year as a campus minister and Bible teacher. Since that initial transition from engineering to education, he returned to school to earn his M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction. He has been an instrumental member of our STEM programs, teaching math and physics and developing our 3D printing programs.
The Wildcat Experience is a family affair for the Okwuonu family. Coach O’s wife, Lynnette, has volunteered as a parent on campus for many years, including as a past PTO president. Alexi and Reighna are WCS graduates, and Kaeden (6th) and Koral (4th) are current Wildcats. When he’s not teaching or coaching, Coach O serves as a deacon at the Westbury Church of Christ.
